Most artists do not want to spend their evening wrestling with an ordering system. You want to upload your artwork, understand the choices in front of you and feel confident that what arrives will be what you expected.

That sounds simple, but fine art printing involves quite a few decisions: paper, size, borders, mounting, framing, image quality and delivery, to name a few. Our job was to make those decisions clearer without stripping away the control that artists and photographers need.

That is why we have rebuilt and expanded the Giclée London online print designer.

Start with the finished piece you want

The new ordering journey begins with three straightforward choices: print only, print and mount, or a framed print.

Start with the finished piece you want: print only, print and mount, or a framed print.

Choose the finished product you have in mind and the designer will guide you through the relevant options. You will only see the choices that matter for that product, with a clear preview and an updated price as you work.

If you simply need an archival print, you will not be made to navigate framing questions. If you want a completed framed piece, you can configure the whole job in one place.

Upload more artwork formats

Artwork does not always arrive as a neat little JPEG.

The new designer accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC and PDF files. That is particularly useful for photographers working with modern phones, artists supplying high-resolution TIFFs and designers exporting print-ready PDFs.

Upload artwork by choosing a file or dragging it directly into the designer.

Large files are uploaded in the background, with a visible progress status. You can continue through the ordering process while the upload completes, and retry it if your connection drops.

We have also strengthened the checks performed on incoming artwork. Damaged, incomplete or incorrectly labelled files are identified before they reach production, reducing the chance of discovering a problem after an order has been placed.

See how your artwork will fit

A print size only tells part of the story. The relationship between the artwork, paper, printed border, mount and frame is what determines how the finished piece will actually look.

The designer gives you control over standard or manually entered dimensions, portrait and landscape proportions, image placement, cropping, zoom, printed borders, paper and quantity. The preview updates as you make your choices, helping you spot an unwanted crop or proportion before ordering.

Clearer image-quality guidance

One of the questions we are asked most often is, “Will my file print clearly at this size?”

The honest answer depends on the number of pixels in the file and how large you intend to print it. Making a photograph physically bigger does not create additional detail.

Clear resolution guidance shows how the uploaded file is expected to reproduce at the selected size.

The designer calculates the expected print resolution and warns you when the selected size may produce a softer result. You can adjust the dimensions, reconsider the crop or acknowledge the warning if the effect is intentional. It is guidance rather than a mysterious pass-or-fail message, and our team will still check artwork as part of the production process.

Preview the finished size in a room

A measurement on a screen can be surprisingly difficult to picture, especially when you are deciding between two larger sizes.

Preview the finished dimensions against room and gallery scenes for a more useful sense of scale.

The real-size preview places your configured artwork into several room and gallery scenes. It is not a replacement for a tape measure, but it gives you a much better sense of how the finished dimensions will feel on a wall. You can also add a representative frame while considering the overall look.

Paper, mounting and framing in one journey

Choosing a paper is part technical decision and part personal taste. A smooth cotton rag may suit a detailed illustration, while a textured paper can give a reproduction more physical character.

Compare mount colours and proportions as part of the complete piece.

You can compare the available papers while configuring your print, then continue into mounting or framing without starting another order. Mounted work includes multiple mount colours and adjustable proportions, shown around the actual uploaded artwork.

Framed print configuration with artwork placement, mount and paper controls
Prepare the print and mount before choosing the finishing frame.

For framed work, you can prepare the print and mount first, then compare the available frame options. The next screen brings the complete piece together and separates the print, mount and frame costs clearly.

If you remain unsure about paper or framing, please talk to us or order samples. No screen can fully communicate how a paper feels in your hand.

A more useful basket and checkout

The basket preserves the important details of every configured piece, including its artwork preview, finished dimensions and production options. Print-only, mounted and framed pieces can be prepared together, quantities changed and unwanted items removed before checkout.

Voucher codes and delivery options are shown clearly, while pricing, VAT and delivery totals are checked by the ordering system before payment.

Order as a guest or create an account

You can check out as a guest or create an account. Registered customers can save their details, review previous orders and download invoices without needing to search through old emails. The same account area includes verification and password-reset options when they are needed.

New possibilities for artists

The new platform also gives us the foundation for dedicated artist storefronts. Participating artists can have their own branded area, publish approved artwork in selected print or frame combinations and set a selling price. Orders still move through the same Giclée London printing and production process, while the system records the artist’s sale and payout information.

We will introduce individual artist collections as they are prepared and approved. We would rather release each collection properly than fill the site with unfinished listings.

Better tools behind the scenes

Some of the most important changes are the ones customers should barely notice. The new system gives our team clearer order information, improved artwork handling and better print-ready production files. It also connects payment, delivery, customer communication and production status more reliably.

The purpose is not technology for its own sake. It is to reduce avoidable questions and mistakes, while giving the people producing your order the information they need.

Try the new print designer

The best way to see what has changed is to try it with one of your own files.

Visit the Giclée London online print designer, choose print only, print and mount or framed print, and upload your artwork. You can explore the papers, dimensions and finishing options without committing to an order.

And if you are unsure about any part of it, please ask. The online designer is there to make ordering easier, not to replace the conversation when your work needs a human eye.
